Vera Eleanor Browne Lochmiller was born January 22, 1924, the daughter of Stanley and Evah Browne. She died Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Countryside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sioux City, IA, at the age of ninety-two.
Vera grew up in Deloit, IA and later in Charter Oak, graduating from the Charter Oak High School with the class of 1941. After graduation, Vera worked for Kunze Oil in Charter Oak and Brandeis Restaurant in Omaha, NE. On October 4, 1943 she was united in marriage to Drexel “Bud” Lochmiller in Hiawatha, Kansas. Vera helped her husband on the farm for thirteen years until they moved to Denison where she worked for Cronks Caf and Montgomery Wards. Later they moved to Emmetsburg where she worked for JC Penney. A few years later they moved to Spencer where she worked for JC Penney and Electrolux. In 1997 they moved back to Denison.
Vera loved doing crafts; especially crocheting numerous items for her family and gardening. Family was very important to Vera and she especially loved her grandbabies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Denison.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Zeda and husband Vernon; one brother, James and wife Azalea; brother-in-law(s) Don and Dennis; son-in-law. Carl. Survivors include two daughters; Carol and Deanna and her husband Don; one son, Richard and his wife Marge; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Betty; many other relatives and friends.
