Verdell H. Henningsen

Verdell Henry Henningsen was born April 24, 1942, in rural Deloit, Iowa, the son of Walter and Clara Henningsen. He passed away in Ute, Iowa, Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the age of seventy-six.
Verdell was baptized in Christ June 28, 1942, and confirmed his faith March 30, 1958, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1961. He was united in marriage with Sandra Keairnes in 1966 and the couple was blessed with the birth of two children, Erica and Jason. In 1979, Verdell was united in marriage with Julie Goodvin and they were blessed with the birth of one daughter, Sarai. For the past 34 years, he had a special relationship with Frances Barnett. Through this relationship, he gained a bonus daughter, five bonus sons, eight bonus grandchildren, and three bonus great-grandchildren.
Always a dedicated farmer, he spent his childhood working on the family farm and began raising his own livestock before he was a teen. A very social person, Verdell loved grilling steaks and cooking for people, having coffee with friends and going to the casino. He could talk to anyone and had a unique ability to make life-long friends every where he went. He will be remembered for his warm, outgoing personality and his big, hearty laugh. In his younger days, Verdell enjoyed dancing and playing cards. When he wasn’t on the go, he was watching Westerns and the RFD channel or riding the four-wheeler around the farm and checking on the horses. And nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren.
Verdell was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason; and two brothers, Darrell and Ron. Survivors include: his close personal friend, Frances; two daughters, Erica and her husband, Tom, and Sarai and her husband, Patrick; four grandchildren: Jaxson, Riley, Adalyn, and Lila; four brothers: Marlo and his wife, Norma; Kermit and his wife, Darlene; Wesley and his wife, Mary; and Dale and his wife, Nadine; one sister-in-law, Lana; other relatives and friends.
