Vinton Sharp was born November 21, 1922, the son of Harry and Olga Olson Sharp. He died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of ninety-one.
Vinton was born in the Dow City area. His schooling was through the 8th grade. Vinton entered the Army, and he served his country for three years during World War II. He pitched softball for the Army, and when he was honorably discharged, he pitched for many town teams.
Vinton married RoseMary Adams on July 16, 1946, together they had ten children, seven girls and three boys. RoseMary passed away March 21, 2007.
Vinton farmed his whole life. He enjoyed grilling, gardening with his son, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Vinton began residing at the Denison Care Center on June 6, 2006. While there he got to where he liked to play bingo, the bus outings, and painting ceramics. Every year at the Crawford County Fair he received a certificate for the most children and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death his wife RoseMary; his parents; a granddaughter Annie; grandsons, Matthew and James; a brother Vernon; sisters Irene, Beulah and Betty. Left behind to morn his loss are daughters Vicki and her husband Randy; Cathyand her husband Dwayne; Ronda and her husband Jim; Laurie and her husband Philip; Carleen; Anita; Mariellen and special friend Joe; three sons David and his wife, Claudean; Daniel and his wife Debra; and Tom and his wife Marilyn; ninety grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; two sisters Alma and her husband, Jerry; Mary Lou; and one brother Jesse and his wife Sue, other relatives and friends.
