Viola Anna Marie Steckelberg was born February 25, 1930, the daughter of Otto and Annie Miller. She passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five.
Viola was born in Crawford County, Iowa and received her education in the Manilla Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1948. She also attended some college classes and after completing her education she worked in Manilla. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Steckelberg on October 23, 1949.
Viola was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and their Ladies Aid. She was also a member of several craft groups and the SNAP Club “Scissors Needles and Pins. She loved embroidering pillowcases and towels. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cribbage; socializing in card games at the Family Table; Bingo and cards at Heritage Heights. She also enjoyed traveling and gathering at the park with family was an important social event.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one daughter, Jessica in infancy; two brothers, Melvin in World War II; and LeRoy and his wife, Sandra. Survivors include: her children: Connie and her husband, Loren; Becky and her husband, Lloyd; Larry and his wife, Sylvia; Steve and his wife, Dawn; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley of Denison; many other relatives and friends.
