Virgene Maxine Ahrenholtz was born April 14, 1929, the daughter of Max and Pauline Denker. She passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six.
Virgene was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa. She grew up in the area and received her education in the Denison Schools, graduating with the class of 1947. She worked as a clerk at Harkers and as a cashier at J.C. Penny’s.
Virgene was united in marriage to Wesley Ahrenholtz on December 14, 1952, and to this union was born two daughters. The couple farmed near Manilla until 1994, when they moved to Denison. Virgene enjoyed her clubs, bowling, and reading books.
Virgene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wes; brothers, Clarence and Virgil. She is survived by two daughters: Gail and her husband, Tom; Marj; three grandchildren: Blair, Lea and Kyle; one brother, Elmer; one sister, Ruby; many other relatives and friends.
