Virtus Bohlmann

 Virtus Carl Bohlmann was born on February 5, 1936, the son of Carl Robert and Hildegard (Gloede) Bohlmann, near Charter Oak. He was baptized on March 29, 1936, and later confirmed his faith on April 6, 1952, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, near Charter Oak, where he remained a faithful lifetime member. He received his education at Immanuel Lutheran School.

 Virtus helped on the family farm throughout his life. In 1975, his family moved into Charter Oak, where he worked at Rick’s Clover Farm sorting cans. He absolutely loved fishing and camping. Family visits, birthdays, and holidays were exciting times he looked forward to, although he was more of a listener than a talker.

 On October 29, 2013, he moved to Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton and enjoyed participating in all their activities. He could be found in the newsletter and made many friends while living there. On Thursdays, he would accompany the ladies in peeling potatoes. Those who shared meals with him delighted in his simple pleasure of enjoying a Diet Coke during supper.

 Virtus passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, at the age of 88 years, seven months, and eight days.

 Virtus was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Larry, Paul and DuWayne Bohlmann; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by a number of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

 Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and his funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, near Charter Oak. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
