Wanda Diane Moeller was born June 8, 1950, to John Robert and Rosemary (Ketelsen) Anderson at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. She passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of seventy-three.
Wanda was baptized into Christ on July 9, 1950, and confirmed her faith on March 22, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Charter Oak, Iowa.
Wanda graduated from Schleswig Community High School on May 24, 1968. She continued her education, earning a license in cosmetology from the Stewart Schools of Hairstyle on August 7, 1971.
Wanda was united in marriage to Dennis Moeller on September 2, 1972, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. After a brief residence in Omaha, they resided on farms near Schleswig and Charter Oak, where they raised their three loving children.
Always one to have a strong work ethic, Wanda began working at Farmland Foods in September of 1982. During her 32 years at Farmland, she made many lifelong friends, many of whom stayed in touch after she retired in March 2014.
Wanda was an avid reader, gardener, baker, and grandmother. She could often be found enjoying pages by John Grisham, David Baldacci, and Tom Clancy, just to name a few. She took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens often receiving help weeding from her grandkids. Christmas cookies and candies were her specialty, filling many gift boxes and holiday dessert plates throughout the years. Always ensuring no one was hungry, Wanda shared her love of baking, often taking treats to work and passing the baking baton to her grandkids. They quite often could be found making brownies or cookies together.
Having taught herself to play the organ by ear, she also appreciated music and singing, her voice effortlessly carrying along to the radio or whatever music was playing. Never one to turn down playing cards, Wanda also had fun playing Euchre, Confusion Rummy, Pinochle, and Uno or War with her grandkids. Wanda truly enjoyed making others happy, which she did by cross-stitching and embroidering dish towels for her daughters and granddaughters.
A proud Grandma, she made each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel very special. This could be found in the gentle way she spoke to them, how she taught them about Jesus or her big bear hugs. For as much as she loved each of them, they adored her tenfold in return. She showered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with the same tender care and affection she imparted to her young students.
With boundless love, Wanda thoroughly enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Through her faith, she spent 20 years teaching the nursery class at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover. Her radiant warmth and spirit have left an indelible mark on countless lives, making her absence profoundly felt.
