Warren Paul Hennings was born February 5, 1942, the son of Harvey and Esther Meseck Hennings. He passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-nine.
Warren was born on a farm south of Ute, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on March 15, 1942, and later confirmed on March 25, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa. He received his education in the Ute Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1960. He continued to farm with this family after graduation. He served with the Iowa National Guard after high school. He was united in marriage to Eileen Neddermeyer on April 12, 1964, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. The couple settled on a farm east of Ricketts, Iowa, and was blessed with the birth of six children. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years from 1977-2007, in addition to farming, until health issues minimized his ability to continue.
He was a great husband, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed buying cattle from out west and raising them along with farming. Having farmed with John Deere tractors all his life, his interest in John Deere tractors continued in collecting them, and attending tractor pulls. He was a football fan, having attended a Philadelphia Eagles game while in basic training, watched games on television, especially the Iowa State Cyclones, and attended Schleswig high school football games as well. Warren enjoyed traveling, taking family vacations in several different states. He also liked to listen to the markets on the radio as well as classic country music and KDSNs polka party. Warren was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak, holding various offices, and most recently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa, serving as elder, and was a past member of the Lutheran Laymens League and the dartball team.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; two children: Keith and JoDee in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Darrell and Ron; two nephews: Michael and Cory; and one niece, Dena, also a niece and nephew in infancy. Survivors include: his wife, Eileen; four sons: Timothy and his wife, Jennifer; Brian; John and his wife, Janice; and Andrew; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria and Cinda; one brother, Deryl and his wife, Joan; brothers-in-law: Allan and his wife, Marjorie; Melvin and his wife, June; one sister-in-law, Joleen and her husband, Verlin; other relatives and friends.
