Warren David Skarin was born on a farm north of Kiron on July 30, 1930, the son of David and Florence Skarin. He passed away at his home on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the age of 83.
Warren attended country grade school and graduated from Kiron High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Donna in 1953 and they were blessed with 3 children. Donna passed away in 1995 and he was united in marriage to Carol in 1996.
At the age of 20, he owned a feed grinder and upon selling this business in 1953, he began selling cars for his uncle. In 1955, he purchased a Skelly oil station from his father and operated it until he sold it in 1975. He then began working for Thams Real Estate and Investment firm in Denison, Iowa and subsequently opened Skarin Real Estate on July 1, 1978. He worked there until his retirement in 2005.
Warren was a lifelong resident of Denison, served in the National Guard for five years, and was a member of both the CCDC board and the Chamber of Commerce. He also served on many housing related committees and was a Rotary member for several years.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Donna; one brother, Robert; one sister, MaryAnn; and one brother-in-law, Merlin.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; one son, Doug and his wife Tami; two daughters, Wendy and Debby; three grandchildren, Ryan, Alissa, and Jessica; three great-grandchildren Brandon, Conson, and Trig; one brother, Carroll and his wife Rena; one sister, Flora Bella; and one sister-in-law, Carole.
