Wayne David Keesling was born on November 30, 1935, in Milford Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He was the youngest son of Ernest and Edna (Judy) Keesling. He died on March 13, 2019, at home in the Manilla Manor at the age of 83.
Wayne was baptized in Christ at St. John's Lutheran Church in Deloit, Iowa, and he graduated from Denison Community High School. He worked and lived in several states in addition to Iowa, including California, Colorado, and Nebraska.
On January 19th, 1972, he and Pearl Baak Leiding were united in marriage in Denison, Iowa. They raised two children together, Julie and Keith, and they supported one another in everything. Wayne particularly enjoyed working together with Pearl, which they did while running the bowling alley in Audubon, Iowa, the Pizza Shack in Denison, Iowa, and a group home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, just to name a few.
Wayne loved smoking his pipe, sharing jokes, playing cribbage, dominoes, and all kinds of card games, watching college and high school sports in person and on television, and socializing with friends and family. He loved Westerns and WWII movies, especially anything featuring John Wayne, and he read ALL of Louis L'amour's books. He never met a stranger.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and each of his siblings: Earl, Cleo, Erna, Francis, Ervin, and Alice. Survivors include his dear wife of 47 years, Pearl;his beloved dog Lucy; his son Keith and wife Kathleen; his daughter Julie and husband Paul; six grandchildren: Jordan & wife Lacey, Jacob, Jade, Kelsey, Keegan, and Kiley; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as other friends and relatives.
