William "Bill" Gordon Aldag was born to Gordon and Erma (Jahn) Aldag on May 22, 1941 at their homeplace in rural Ida County, Iowa. He was baptized into Christ at Zion Lutheran Church on August 3, 1941 and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Ida County, Iowa on April 3, 1955.
After receiving his education at the Schleswig Community Schools, he went to work at the lumberyard in Schleswig and Ida Grove for a short time before pursuing his passion of farming. He was united in marriage to Peggy Sue Creese on December 6, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township. This union was blessed with three children; Durene, Kelly and David. Bill and Peggy worked side by side farming the land and raising livestock until their retirement in 2002.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, he loved his fishing trips, coyote and deer hunting adventures and camping. He especially liked fishing and camping with his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved sitting around the campfire and watching the stars or relaxing in the afternoon watching the skies for passing airplanes. Birdwatching with Peggy was also special to him. In the later years he found a new hobby, attending tractor pulls to watch Mike and Brady. “Driving around” was a favorite of Bill’s whether it was traveling to Florida or Texas for the winter or cruising around town on his golf cart he loved to be out and about.
Bill was received into his Heavenly home from Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove on December 22, 2020 at the age of 79 years and seven months.
