William R Brink

William Rogers Brink was born on June 8, 1936, to George (Jerry) C. Brink and Golda Mae Brink in Dow City, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of seventy-nine.
William “Bill” received his education in the Dow City School. He worked for Leinen Produce with Lavern Leinen for about one year. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years. He finished his education and received his GED while serving in the Army. After finishing his basic training, he served in Germany for two years. He was honorably discharged in June 1956. On January 15, 1957, Bill was united in married to Ellen DeMey in the Dow City Methodist Church, and were blessed with five children: Debra, Ronald, Thomas, Cindy and Scott. They made their home in Denison, where he worked two part-time jobs; Auld’s Greenhouse and nights at Harley Lingle’s Gas Station. In 1958, he started to work at Farmland Foods in Denison, where he remained a loyal employee for over 40 years. He retired as number 1 in seniority in August of 1998, and began working there the day the plant opened..
Bill was a life time member of the Disabled American Veterans. He looked forward to gardening every year, and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, squirrels, and rabbits. Bill enjoyed cutting wood to burn during the winter and going to the casino. Bill especially loved the trips he and Ellen took to the mountains, spending time together. He enjoyed his family and was a wonderful loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant granddaughter, Anna; brothers, George Jr. and John; sisters: Katheryn, Lila and Joyce. Survivors include: his wife, Ellen; children: Scott and his wife, Tonya; Cindy and her husband, Jim ;Tom; Debra and her husband, Lloyd; Ronald; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gwenith; Donna Beerman; one brother, Robert and his wife, Chris; sister-in-law, Ruth; many other relatives and friends.
