William Terry Wohlers was born alongside his twin brother, Ted on March 17, 1944 in Logan, Iowa. He is the son of Theodore Henry Jacob and Ila Ruth (Iddings) Wohlers. Bill received his education from Logan High School and graduated with the class of 1962. He attended Wayne State College and graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s of arts degree, double majoring in chemistry and mathematics. Bill did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He then accepted a job working for Continental Oil Company (Conoco) in their analytic chemistry laboratory located in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1967, where he was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. He auditioned for and was assigned to the Tactical Air Force Command Band, playing the clarinet and saxophone. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Following his separation from the Air Force, he worked for Snyder-Neuman Pipe Organ Company located in Omaha. He traveled between Nebraska, Western Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.

They settled in Denison and were blessed with their daughter, Jennifer. In October of 1972, he began working for Farmland Foods (Smithfield Foods) located in Denison as a quality control inspector and later became Senior Chemist at their analytic laboratory. He retired on December 31, 2009, after almost 38 years.

Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Denison. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society and the Denison American Legion Post 8. In the ‘80s, he worked with his mother and cousin on family history. This became a great passion of his as he helped his extended family research their family tree. He also met many people online from all over the world helping them with their research. Watching the Hawkeyes, Packers and Cardinals play were his favorite pastimes. Above all, he cherished making memories with his family.
