Wilma Magdalan Mohr, was born March 21, 1927, the daughter of George Henry and Vera Stolz. She died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven.
Wilma was born on a farm near Defiance, Iowa. She received her education in a country school near Defiance, and when she was ten years old, her family moved to a farm near Earling, Iowa, where she finished her education.
On June 25, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ervin F. Mohr, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. In 1967, Ervin and Wilma moved to Florida, living there for five years until returning to Denison in 1973. After Ervin’s death in 2001, Wilma continued to live in her home until she moved to Eventide Nursing Home in 2009.
Wilma worked at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital for six years and admitted the first patient in 1953. She also worked for the telephone office as an operator until they went to dial telephones, and Auld’s Greenhouse and Flower Shop.
Wilma was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, belonging to the Altar Society and was a 50 year member of the Legion Auxiliary. She and Ervin enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel camper, spending winters in various locations, and building their own home. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and visiting.
Wilma was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband of 56 years, Ervin; seven brothers: Mal, Melvin, Allen, Merrill Sr., Louis, George Jr., and Roman; one sister, Delores. Survivors include; one sister,Lois; one sister-in-law, Alice; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
